Sant Egidio community begins real business in Cameroon

Sant Egidio community is a lay public association of the Catholic Church.

The community has received authorization from the government of Cameroon to carry out its humanitarian peace building activities in Cameroon.

The Minister of External Relations, Pierre Moukoko Mbonjo signed an agreement with the International Relations Officer of the Community Mauro Garofalo to that effect on Friday 18th July 2014 in Yaoundé.

The Sant Egidio community whose head quarter is in Rome has been in Cameroon for close to 25 years.

According to the agreement the community is henceforth considered a charity organization emanating from the Catholic Church in charge of providing assistance to the vulnerable people.

The community has undertaken to assist persons infected by the HIV virus through the provision of free anti-retro viral drugs.

The Minister of Public Health was also present at the signing ceremony.
