Saints Peter and Paul Parish Nsimalen celebrates 80 years

A mass of thanksgiving was celebrated on this occasion by Bishop Jean Mbarga Saturday.

Despite its 80 years, the Saints Peter and Paul Parish continues to look great. Beautiful and impressive, this historical monument majestically erected a stone's throw from Yaoundé-Nsimalen airport accommodated many worshippers around the world, celebrating its jubilee.

80 years of faith and commitment on the way of salvation, deserves a mass of Thanksgiving. Assisted by Archbishop Roger Pirenne, Emeritus Bishop of Ebolowa, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Yaoundé praised the work of the pioneers of the Church at Nsimalen. «Nsimalen hosted a dynamics of missionaries and nuns, witnesses of this renaissance and this growth», he said.

Established in 1934 by our Lords René Grafin and François Xavier Vogt of late memory, this high place of prayer is built on nearly 50 000 m2. Age to perfection reflects this long mission of salvation which, according to Bishop Jean Mbarga, honors the spirit of God which is with his Church on the path of growth.

The sons and daughters of Nsimalen, as in the Holy Scriptures, have seen the power of God's love in the magnificence of its heart. Because it is in this town that Marian apparitions took place 29 years ago. "Beautiful things were received at Nsimalen, sign of the presence of God. That of sons and daughters of Nsimalen offered to God. The blessing of God is here and we give thanks for its wonders," continued the principal celebrant.

In the registry of appreciations, the support of the president of the Republic at the Marian shrine noted. "It is thanks to him that we have the land title of the land dedicated to the Virgin Mary", he concluded. The Archbishop also announced that the prayers of this parish will be devoted to peace.

That is the testimony revealed on this occasion which ended with sacraments, donations and delivery of diplomas to deserving Christians. And the said parish priest, father Jean Bosco Anaba Mevo, did not hide his joy. The successful organization of this great Jubilee was testified by the exemplary enthusiasm of the faithful of Nsimalen.
