Presby churches hold send off party for Rev Fonki Samuel

The East Mungo North Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, PCC and the Presbyterian Church Bastos, Yaounde have jointly sent forth the moderator-elect of the PCC, reverend Fonki Samuel Forba.

The send-off ceremony took place this Sunday 28th December 2014 at the Church premises of PC Bastos which is also the seat of the East Mungo North Presbytery.

Drawing inspiration from 2nd Kings 2:9-14, Rev Fonki Samuel delivered an inspirational send-off sermon in which he called on the Bastos Congregation and the East Mungo North to remain strong as a Church and Presbytery respectively.

While making allusion to the passage for meditation, Rev Fonki said he considers the Presbytery and Bastos Congregation as an Elijah in his missionary work.

The Moderator-elect also thanked the PC Bastos congregation for the warm reception, love and kindness bestowed on him right from the day he set foot in Bastos, during his induction in 2013 and throughout his stay. Such concern he noted, makes him leave for Buea like a “finished product.”

Rev Fonki mentioned that goodbye is a word of hope and blessing and reiterated that he and his family are stepping into a new season.

During the solemn service officiated by a college of PCC Pastors and featuring visitors from other denominations, the members of the Presbytery and Christians of PC Bastos presented gifts in cash and kind to the Moderator-elect, Rev Fonki and wife Rev Dr Perpetua Fonki.

Rev Fonki and wife before the congregation received warm hugs and smiles from familiar faces that had been with them all through their 17-month sojourn in East Mungo North and Bastos.

Rev Fonki Samuel Forba was being sent forth to take over office this Monday 29th December 2014 in Buea as new Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon.

He replaces outgoing Moderator, the Right Rev Dr Festus Asana.
