Preach God’s word through music, Choral group told

Members of “The Glorious Voices”, a choral group from the University of Yaounde I, recently thrilled the population of the Southwest Region with soul touching religious choruses in a maiden concert hosted by the Ebenezar Baptist Church, Great Soppo, during their end-of-year tour.

The concert which took place on Sunday, November 30, began with the Christians having their spiritual food given to them by Laura Mosembe Wase, who drew inspiration from the book of Romans 8:35-39; “We are more than conquerors.”

Christians of the Ebenezar Baptist Church were charmed by this choral group that showcased their talent through; classical, worship and praise songs. Fascinated by the “Glorious Voices”, Titus Njapchach, spiritual Head of the Ebenezar Youth Choir said: “They are well cultured, trying to mix both the traditional and classical songs. They have their instrumentals and in respect to our choir, we are lacking in this aspect.”

The Coordinator of the choral group, Masonjo Singe said the main objective of their tour is to sing songs of evangelism so as to win souls to the Lord and serve as an avenue for employment.

“Music also gives employment, so, it is an opportunity for the students to showcase their talents to the public so that their artistic work can be appreciated,” he stated. “There is also an exchange within choirs; they learn from us and us from them,” he added.

The concert witnessed not only members of the congregation, but of other denominations who equally gave their views. Elvis Ako of Catholic Church, Great Soppo Buea, said he was satisfied with the experience he had that evening.

“I really had a good time here which gives me no room for regrets” he acknowledged.

Having thrilled song lovers at the University of Buea on November 29, and at the Ebenezer Baptist Church, the choir returned to Yaounde for the students to engage in their academic work.
