PCC moderator says synod elections characterised by blackmail

The moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Cameroon, PCC, Rev. Festus Asana has cried out aloud that campaigns leading up to next Tuesday’s election of a new moderator and a synod clerk have been characterised by blackmail, backstabbing and bad-mouthing.

Harping on the elections which hold in Bamenda, the moderator enjoined PCC Christians to lay more emphasis on prayers in order to have a credible team come November 25. Rev. Festus Asana’s declaration was made public during celebrations to mark the Presbyterian Church Day in Cameroon. It was read and distributed to all Presbyterian churches in Cameroon.

The moderator also used the Presbyterian Church Day to present his five years stewardship at the helm of the PCC. In the presentation, Rev. Festus Asana prided self with transparency, accountability and credibility which he said now reign within the PCC.

He equally thanked God for the growth of the PCC educational sector most especially the Cameroon Christian University, CCU, including the astronomical growth of Christians from below a million to above 5 million and extension from the Anglophone to the Francophone sector.

Stressing on the theme of his speech; “stepping aside with hope”, the moderator who promised to remain an ardent PCC Christian, entreated all to be steadfast, committed and to stand strong in the Lord and in faith.

In most of the PCC congregations of the North West region, the pastor called on Christians not to give up in times of trial “because the church looks up to the Lord.”

The 57th Presbyterian Church Day which was celebrated nation-wide on Sunday, November 16 by the PCC Christians was the day the PCC got her independence from the Basel Mission.
