Lutheran Women Ass. holds 32nd Gen. Assembly meeting in Yde

The Women Association of Cameroon Lutheran Church has organized its 2015 General Assembly in Yaounde.

The 32nd General Assembly Meeting which opened this 5th January 2015 is holding under the theme “The labourer’s work shall not be in vain.”

Members of the association met to discuss on how to contribute to the wellbeing of women in Cameroon and the Northern region in particular.

The President of the association, Julie Bara said the mission this year is to sensitize the entire nation in the fight against violence on women, genital mutilation, forced marriages and the impact of societal ills on women.

In this light, the meeting brought together Delegates, Divisional Officers and women of all works of life.

The association also has as challenge to ensure that the children are educated on the basics of life while promoting peace and security and the fight against poverty amongst others.

The Mfoundi Divisional Delegate for Women’s Empowerment and the Family, Rebecca Mvoto Nanga urged members of the Association to engage themselves in small activities such as the fabrication of soap, sewing of clothes and other handicrafts.

Other projects including the building of a social centre, restaurants and a training school were discussed during the assembly.

A member of the association, Hawa Vamoulke said the adoption of a 2015 strategic plan will help solve some of the problems faced by women in the association and nationwide.
