The first contingent of 300 pilgrims out of 3000 left the Garoua International Airport around 21h (9pm) and were bound for Medina in Saudi Arabia as part of Hajj 2015.

Among the 300 pilgrims were the governor of the Northern Region, Jean Abate Edi'i, who aside his staff, was in the company of the technical advisor No. 1 the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralisation (MINATD), Dr. Boubakari Oumarou, representing the Minister of Territorial Administration and Decentralization, Chairman of the National Hajj Commission.

In total, 10 rotations are planned so that 3,000 pilgrims from the three Northern Regions, who will travel to the Garoua International Airport, are transported to the Holy Land on pilgrimage to Islam in order to accomplish one of the five pillars of their religion.

To do this, the state of Cameroon has chartered a Boeing 767 belonging to the Portuguese private company “Euro Atlantic Flys.”

As was keen to point out, on the occasion, the governor of the northern region, leaving for Hajj has always been framed by the government of the Republic.

According to him, "Instructions have been given to us by our hierarchy to ensure the effectiveness of the course of this event and security measures, in strict compliance with the Constitution of our country.”
