Abang-Tsinga Catholic Mission observed mass for Stephane Mbia

In the Catholic mission in the vicinity of Mfou in the division of Mefou and Afamba (Centre region), faithfuls and religious authorities prayed on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 for the national team and its captain.

On the eve of the match against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium and nine days to the start of the 2015 African Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea, the faithfuls of the Catholic mission of Abang- Tsinga around Mfou gathered around Father Aristide Ze for a Mass of Thanksgiving in honor of the captain of the Indomitable Lions.

Absent from the ceremony, Stéphane Mbia Etoundi harvested blessings of this religious community, happy to celebrate an act of faith on the part of a top athlete preparing for a major competition. During this Mass, prayers were made to accompany the Indomitable Lions and especially their leader on a path to winning the next big competition of African football.

"Every Christian must put God at the center of his life looking for the tireless, loving through brands of attention expressed vis-à-vis his likes," insisted the celebrant of the day. Speaking after him, the former Governor Louis Zanga Eyeya cited Stephane Mbia as an example for all Cameroonian youth.

Stephane Mbia, a player with Sevilla in Spain was injured the previous weekend during a match in La Liga and his Spanish club doctors diagnosed a "myofascial muscle tendon injury in his right leg," making him unavailable for 10 to 15 days.

Selected among 23 Lions by coach Volker Finke, the 28-year-old was named captain in August and could make a comeback on the field at the 2nd match of Group D that Cameroon will play against Guinea Conakry.
