Sudden death of YCPDM national president sparks fear

The sudden death of the national youth wing president of the Cameroon’s People Democratic Movement –YCPDM, Mbonda Stephen Motia is said to have sparked fears within CPDM cycles and among some independent observers. Mbonda is the third successive YCPDM president to suffer such misfortune.

To many who spoke to The Guardian Post shortly after receiving the news of Mbonda’s demise, it was not easy for them to come to terms with the state of affairs mindful of the fact that Mbonda Stephen in his last days had been very active in some socio-political events in the South West region.

A diehard CPDM militant who opted to remain anonymous revealed that the fate of the last three YCPDM national presidents from the South West region have been marred by suspicious mysterious circumstances. Our source noted that the pioneer YCPDM president, Enow Ebai Nane of Nguti extraction went mentally deranged before dying mysteriously. His successor, Akpo John Mukete is said to have suffered a severe stroke that left him bed-ridden for many months abroad. And today, Akpo is still physically paralysed even though he was relieved of his post some years back.

As for the outspoken Mbonda, he gave up the ghost upon arrival at the Kumba district hospital on Wednesday August 6, by 10 a.m. after he was rushed in from Limbe.

It is not yet clear if Mbonda went for treatment in Limbe but family sources said he was suffering from recurrent fever before calling his friend, Senator Otte Andrew Mofa to confide in him that he will be going to Limbe for medical attention. The reporter equally gathered that Mbonda was lately diagnosed of diabetes.
