YOSA heaps more misery on Fovu

Yong Sport Academy of Bamenda made sure Fovu club of Baham did not bounce back from a 4-2 defeat in Garoua against Coton Sport last Wednesday, by inflicting a painful 1-0 victory on them in Bandjoun on Monday, forcing the few hundred home fans to abandon the game before time.

Initially scheduled to take place on Sunday, the match was moved 24 hours later to Monday due to travel difficulties by Fovu from Garoua. The home side started the match on the ascendancy, mounting tonnes of pressure on the visitors but failed to create any meaningful opportunity.

Particularly wasteful was Njeukou Nana Armand, the huge imposing forward who used his height to bully Yosa defenders but failed to direct any of his efforts on a goal.

Quite contrary to the flow of the game, Yosa created some decent chances of its own but Tchaguen Alex and Mawobe Ntouba were guilty of naïve finishing on three occasions. Fovu continued to press forcing Yosa to engage in a more physical approach earning Madjo and Mawobe bookings.

The second segment could not have started any better for Fovu who won a penalty within 90 seconds of the restart when Akosemoh Theodore was judged to have slightly made contact with Njeukou Armand in the box. Namedji Willy hit the resulting spot kick over the crossbar.

It was at the 65th minute that the stalemate was broken when Kongnyuy Jude assisted with a cross from the right flank to serve Tchaguen Alex for the opening and only goal of the game.

Despite mounting more pressure Yosa held tight to wave aside two late onslaughts from the home side that crashed them with 2 defeats in 6 days.

The result takes Yosa to 6 points and into the upper half of the table after two wins in four games. Yosa’s next two games are at home in Bamenda against UMS of Loum on March 8 and Dragon of Yaounde on March 15.
