Yosa Vs Coton Sport: Day Two Update

The players were surprise to be woken up at exactly 6 am this morning by head coach Kamgue Justin and keeper trainer Kome. Its a brief warm up session in a nearby pitch to the hotel.

While there, I decided to take a trip to the stadium to see what the facilities there look like.

While the playing ground is excellent, the Rounde Ajia is in ruins and abandonment after years of neglect by the authorities. The ground bears no resemblance of a stadium that host more continental matches in Cameroon than any other.

The access road still remains dusty in the dry season and muddy in the wet season, the gates are looking shabby with old paints peeling off everywhere, the surrounding itself leaves much to be desire, with no surfaced parking, no painted walls since President Ahmadou Ahidjo constructed the stadium, the running tracks are peeling off while the dressing rooms and toilet facilities are way below standard.

To the popular side, the toilets show years of neglect and is covered with the foul stench of urine and excreta. Drainage ways are covered with shit and urine dropped there after every game and every morning as people come by to jog.

Some of the images are so appalling that we decided not to publish them. The Roumde Adjia was constructed in 1978 with a capacity of 35 000 people standing and 22 000 seated.

Shortly after their brief session, the players regained their hotel where they had breakfast in preparation for the afternoon session where they intend to carry out reconnaissance of the play ground ahead of tomorrow’s game.

The match kicks off at 3:30 PM local time, 14:30 GMT.
