Since the launch of the national anti-measles vaccination campaign on 25th August 2015, the Soa District Hospital, one of the 12 selected to run the campaign in the Centre Region, is yet to identify any cases of the disease.

The anti-measles campaign in the Soa District Hospital started this 27th August 2015, with mothers bringing their children for vaccination.

Nurses at the hospital say though the activity is yet to gain any affluence the few vaccinations done were carried out smoothly.

The Coordinator of the hospital, Boukar Abdelkarim Boukar explained that when a child is vaccinated, a card is given to the parents. The name and age of the child, location of the health district and number of lots and the constituent elements of the vaccine taken are written on the card.

He emphasised that the card is important so that in case of secondary effects to the injection, the child could be easily treated.

The Campaign Supervisor at the hospital, Malla Ntiga Marie says they expect parents from Yaounde and its environs to come to the Soa Health District for vaccination. She indicated that the centre is targeting about 12.000 children.

Parents on their part are happy since the vaccination campaign will help children grow healthy.

Since the launch of the campaign, over 160 children have been vaccinated in the centre and the team is doing door to door sensitization so as to pull more children to the health district.
