Yaounde Human Reproductive Hospital inauguration imminent

All seem set for the official opening of the first public Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgery and Human Reproductive Teaching Hospital, abbreviated CHRACERH in Cameroon.

On August 13, 2015, members of the management committee of the hospital met during their 7th ordinary session to examine and evaluate what has been done to ensure an effective take off of the hospital.

Under the chairmanship of the President of the Committee, Professor Séraphin Magloire Fouda, members examined, validated and adopted therein administrative and management accounts of the institution as well as the execution of the 2014 budget.

Speaking to the press after the meeting, the Administrator of the Hospital, Professor Jean Marie Kasia said work to complete the construction and equipping of the hospital was over. “Now is the time for the authority concerned to decide when the hospital will be inaugurated.

Pr. Jean Maria Kasia said consultations were on-going in the hospital as well as surgical interventions be they classical or endoscopic, which are very possible in the hospital with already 10 carried out within two years.

The administrator also specified that people can be admitted into the hospital. Besides, all the five clinical laboratories are already operational likewise the in-vitro fertilisation section which is effective in the hospital.

Focusing on in-vitro fertilisation, Pr Kasia noted that the centre has met-up with the international norms to carry out such human reproduction. According to him, experts in the field visited the centre twice last year and this year they were at the centre in the month of March to verify if the centre can effectively carry out in-vitro fertilisation.

“We had gradually started in-vitro fertilisation and by next month, I think we will take-off effectively,” Pr Kasia underlined. The structure, according to the hospital administrator, is comparable to any other similar structure abroad and he is optimistic that Cameroonians will be proud to have such a structure in the country.

So far, the administration of the hospital has taken all necessary measures to ensure that the maintenance of medical equipment is guaranteed. The hospital has introduced the concept of total productive maintenance which is preventive and curative maintenance. Technicians have been trained for curative maintenance of equipment as well as the day-to-day maintenance of these machines.
