The Injectable Polio Vaccine (IPV) has officially been launched in Cameroon to end the spread of the childhood killer.
Minister of Public Health, Andre Mama Fouda, chaired the official ceremony to introduce the immunization schedule for the IPV against polio in children aged 0 to 11 months on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 in Yaoundé.
According to Mr. Andre Mama Fouda, it was a step towards globalization.
Thus, he is “counting on the press to spread the news by raising awareness. This vaccine will effectively contribute to the eradication of polio as it adds to the oral vaccine against polio”.
The challenges are many, as many parents are unaware about the new injection vaccine that could have secondary effects on the health of the child if mismanaged.
Development partners, UNICEF Representative, WHO, artistes and the media were also present at the ceremony.
