Seminar on treatment of chronic viral hepatitis ends

An international workshop to train Cameroonian Healthcare Professionals on the management and treatment of chronic viral hepatitis ends in Yaounde today 10th March 2016.

The health experts are expected to come up with measures and recommendations that will go a long way to stop the spread of the disease in Cameroon.
Public health Minister Andre Mama Fouda during the opening of the seminar stressed the need to put in strategies to stop the disease which is a serious problem in Cameroon.

Official statistics state that the Prevalence rate of Hepatitis B virus in Cameroon stands at 8.26% and that over 1 million people worldwide die annually as a result of viral hepatitis with an estimation of 170 million infected cases.
Viral hepatitis is most commonly caused by hepatitis A B and C virus.

The three viruses can all result to acute disease with symptoms of nausea, abdominal pain, fatigue, malaise, and jaundice.
