New Medical Emergency Centre: Pioneer officials installed

The first ever officials of the new National Emergency Centre of the Yaounde Central Hospital have been installed into their functions by the Minister of Public Health.

The President of the management committee, Augustin Thierry Edzoa, and the director of the Emergency Centre, Dr. Louis Joss Bitang were installed on 18th November 2014.

The two officials were charged to unreservedly provide their services in order to save lives.

The centre has a capacity of 50 beds, which could be increased should need arise.

It also contains some modern equipment capable of handling extreme emergency cases.

The construction phase of the centre was launched in 2012 with technical and financial support from the Republic of Korea.

The installation of these two health personalities comes at a time where threats of the Ebola virus are still a reality in West Africa and a time where some health officials in Cameroon manifest lukewarm attitudes towards emergency cases, as some patients complain.
