The Minister of Higher Education called for the integration of medical courses, pharmacy and odonto-stomatology in the medical school curriculum.

The presentation of these programmes was held on Thursday, October 8, 2015, in the presence of the head of Department, Pr Jacques Fame Ndongo, reported the Mutations newspaper on Friday, October 9, 2015.

According to Minesup, the harmonization of these programmes aims to "avoid the cacophony in the field of medical education in Cameroon. This is to create a general framework in order to find the best alternatives", he said.

Meanwhile, it was the call from the Minister Fame Ndongo in favour of the integration of African medicine in the academic programmes that caught the attention of many. "If you've not thought of including lessons on traditional medicine in your programs, I recommend it," he noted

And according to the newspaper, Minister Jacques Fame Ndongo who is also "the initiator of the Department of African communication at Esstic, asked the heads of present public institutions as well as their representatives and heads of private institutes to insist on the development of African medicine and pharmacopoeia.

"The rectors should propose the creation of a Department of medicine and African pharmacopoeia. L’Université des Montagnes has already experimented it. In Yaoundé I, I believe that it exists but we should revitalize it," suggested Minesup.

To Mutations, "he called for a consolidation of this medicine in terms of dosage, side effects, precautions."

Now we have to see if the heads of public and private institutions, who took part in this ceremony, will implement the wish of the Minister Fame Ndongo.
