MTN Cameroon helps to battle malaria

MTN Cameroon has teamed up with Malaria No More Cameroon, to promote the fight against malaria, which kills roughly 2,000 Cameroonians, each year.

They will use the MTN Mobile platform in an attempt to meet the target set by the National Programme to Fight against Malaria, which is to cut the death rate by 75 percent by 2018 compared with 2000.

The MTN Foundation will support the project with mobile telephony in a scheme called ‘SMS for life’.

It is a national surveillance system to monitor inventories of malaria diagnoses and anti-malaria drugs for roughly 3,600 health centres throughout Cameroon.
