The Garoua Regional Hospital will soon receive donation comprised of medical equipment, donated by the daughter-in-law of President Ahmadou Ahidjo.

Since her ascension to the National Assembly, Hon. Lisa Koultchoumi Ahidjo has put the welfare of the people of her constituency at the centre of her priorities.

After having equipped the Garoua 2 district hospital, the Member of the lower House has focused on the Garoua Regional Hospital. Consultation tables, wheelchairs, folding stretchers among others, were among the special package from the MP submitted at the hospital that supports nearly 2 million patients in the northern region.

Women and especially future mothers were no slouch in this gesture from the heart. 105 pregnant women each received a health fee of 6000 FCFA, cheque. To explain her action, the Member stated that about 6000 women die in Cameroon every year after difficulty in childbirth and most of these women are from the North.

Despite the positive effects of the actions of the Ministry of Public Health and its partners, the low level information and autonomy of pregnant women, their difficulty in accessing health services, deprivation of technical, as well as the difficulties of the personnel in charge of the reproductive health, few and poorly trained, remain the main causes of the very high level of maternal mortality.

With a health check, every woman has access during her pregnancy to all consultations and examinations necessary for a normal or cesarean delivery, by qualified personnel and finally, monitoring her health as well as that of her baby for 6 weeks. Whatever the level of follow-up and care, regardless of any complications, pregnant women will not have to shell out an extra FCFA during this period for care related to her pregnancy.
