Free eye screening at Edea

Given the progression of eye diseases in the Sanaga-Maritime, former Minister of Finance and Marcel Yondo, an elite of the department, organizes from 2 to 13 November 2015, free ophthalmological mission in the town of Edea (capital of the department) and Mouanko.
The ophthalmologic mission started since November 3, 2015, at the Edea Regional Hospital Annex (HRAE), in order to treat patients suffering from visual impairments.

Under the supervision of Dr. Jeanne BONNEFOUS, Ophthalmologist in Paris, France, the screening campaign and free eye care open to Edea, aims to explore the Sanaga-Maritime areas to treat pockets of ophthalmologic diseases, care for and educate patients.

After five days of consultation, the provisional toll reported several cases of presbyopia diagnosed in patients whose ages vary between 40 and 50, as well as cases of hyperopia identified in mostly young people.

In this socio humanitarian operation, the ophthalmologist who is also the Vice-President of the NGO Ophtalmo Without Borders, is assisted by a strong team of three specialist ophthalmologists.
