East Regional delegation of livestock embarks on fighting rabies

The East Regional delegation of livestock, fisheries and animal industries (MINEPIA) has organised a campaign constrain stray and wild dogs in a bid to fight rabies in the region.

The ongoing campaign scheduled to end on 24th December 2014, includes the vaccination of dogs in all five divisions.

The MINEPIA East Regional Delegate, Dr Christian Loa emphasised on the importance of the campaign noting that rabies is a killer disease that could be transmitted to man through a dog bite.

Campaign officials state that all stray dogs suspected to be carriers of rabies shall be killed.

Dr Christian Loa further cautions owners of dogs in the East region to get their dogs vaccinated or face sanctions.
