Centre for medical imaging in Maroua commissioned

The laying of the foundation stone of this health structure that combines computer science took place last Friday.

The laying of the foundation stone of the regional Centre of medical imaging of the regional hospital in Maroua was characterised by a tour by the Secretary of State for public health in charge of combating epidemics and pandemics.

On the site, Alim Gaga Hayatou noted that the construction work has been done at 60%. According to the head of the construction, it will be delivered by December 2015.

Housed within the regional hospital in Maroua, the regional centre of medical imaging is built on an area of 502 m2. The benefits relate to the scanner, radiology-os-lungs, ultrasound, mammography, mobile radio and the dental paranomique. According to the head of the construction work, the inauguration will be done at end of the year 2015. The cost of the work is estimated at 800 million CFA francs.

The advent of this structure constitutes a real breakthrough in the system of public health in the region. In addition to the technical platform that will be strengthened, the regional centre of medical imaging will allow the peoples of the region often forced to go long distances, and difficult to access specific reviews travel.

After the hemodialysis Center that has been operational for three years, the regional centre of medical imaging is part of a promise by the head of State Paul Biya who took the resolution in 2007, to provide all of the ten regions of the country with a center of hemodialysis or medical imaging.
