CERAC Boosts Nguelemendouka Health Services

The tireless humanitarian caravan of the Circle of Friends of Cameroon (CERAC) was on the move over the weekend to meet the needs of the least privileged, precisely at Nguelemendouka, in the Upper Nyong Division of the East Region. After Ngaoundal in the Adamawa Region and Ndocksamba in the Littoral Region, on Saturday July 12, the First Lady of Cameroon, Mrs Chantal Biya indicated it was time to bring health and agricultural assistance to inhabitants in the enclave locality.

That is why, the First Lady sent a delegation of CERAC women, an association she founded with hospital equipment and material needs for the rural women. The Secretary of State at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Marie Rose Dibong, personally represented the First Lady at the event.

Merrymaking and shouts of joy characterised the atmosphere when Minister Marie Rose Dibong and her delegation arrived Nguelemendouka. The villagers lifted high the flag of the country while a majority of them brandished t-shirts that carried the effigy of the First Lady. The joy of the population increased when the First Lady's representative came out to hand medical equipment meant for the Integrated Health Centre, Nguelemendouka, Ngoumou and Ekpwassong as well as farm tools to Nguelemendouka rural women.

As Marie Rose Dibong handed the gifts to the population, she noted that people should not be misguided by the multiplicity of CERAC's actions into thinking that the association has endless means. According to her, it is not an offense to help a needy neighbour or take part in the development and upliftment of the country. "Real happiness is in sharing especially when sharing with the least privileged", Marie Rose Dibong noted.

For almost 20 years, she said the First Lady through CERAC has reached out to the most underprivileged and from her heart, goodwill gestures have flowed ceaselessly. While using the opportunity to praise the efforts of Mrs Biya in her battle against poverty, Marie Rose Dibong used the occasion to thank all those who will ensure that the positive fall-back from CERAC's actions reach the intended recipients.

Several speakers took the floor not only to laud CERAC's action but also to reiterate the huge importance of the gesture. By refurbishing the hospitalisation wards, delivery room, surgical block, kitchen, latrine, borehole for portable water and numerous medical equipment such as a surgical and delivery bed, laboratory kits and medications, the Director of Bertoua Regional Hospital Dr Hugette Meke Nguele said it was a great breath of fresh air for the whole health system in the locality.

"With such medical tools, not forgetting the special gift of a generator from the First Lady, henceforth, the performances and working conditions of health personnel in the area will improve", Dr Hugette Nguele noted. Rural women expressed gratitude for the farm tools in dancing. With such precious support, the women said they will continue the daily struggle under rain and sun to feed and sustain their families. Top personalities from the East Region joined inhabitants of Nguelemendouka to embrace "Mama" Chantal's show of love and affection.
