77 medical doctors, 6 with Masters in Clinical Biology and 11 with Masters in Public Health, were sworn in at the Conference Hall in Yaoundé on Thursday.

The ceremony was chaired by the Minister of Public Health, André Mama Fouda, and Chancellor of academic orders and Minister of Higher Education, Jacques Fame Ndongo.

According to the weekly newspaper, Repères, the ceremony was an opportunity for Jacques Fame Ndongo to make an announcement on the reform in Medical, Pharmaceutical and Stomatology training. This was a major innovation specically for the organisation of the national qualification examination for medical training in a unique session but declined in two separate modules (public and private), containing the same paper, the same examiners with the same jury.

In this new configuration, the candidate shall be limited to the choice of a single institution and a single field. This is for Higher education officials to solve the nagging problem of dropping out of school by students due to the lack of financial means.

Pending the new vintage of the higher Institute of Medical Technology in Nkolondom, Yaoundé, from second promotions of doctors and masters in clinical biology and the first in public health will have to wait for the organisation of the competition of integration. This will be through the Ministry of Public Service and Administrative Reform; at least for those who hope for a career in public service.
