World Basketball Tour: Douala hosts playoffs

Basketball Basketball

Basketball players will take part in the three qualifying tournaments for the FIBA 3x3 Masters World Tour this weekend in Douala.

The competition will be held in Prague, Czech Republic on August 8 and 9, 2015. 30 teams were announced (five corpos, ten ladies, five men). But only the winner of the men's tournament will qualify for the global competition. In the men’s category, there have been some angry confrontations. The team needs to work hard to get to Prague because 48 countries are expected at this tournament.

The 3x3 is a basketball game and it’s played with a team of three players instead of five. It was referred to as a street game because there was no structure improvised rules.

The peculiarity of this form of basketball is that it is festive and attractive. Attractive because players give free styles with often impressive shots and dunks. The platform is also free.

"This form allows you to bring together the fans of basketball and of course, the curious ones often come. We hope to have a large audience this weekend," said Titty Belate, chairman of the National Committee of 3x3 basketballs.

The 3x3 was played informally but the International Basketball Federation decided to integrate it into its agenda in 2012.

November 2014 was when Cameroonians began to participate in this game which is now an Olympic tournament.
