Joel Embiid present at Sixers minicamp but still limited

Joel Embiid's injury status and rehabilitation process are still unknown at this point.

On June 14, a CT scan on his right foot showed "less healing than anticipated." The next step is a mystery but surgery is not ruled out, a move that could possibly keep Embiid on the sidelines into next season's All-Star break. Maybe even longer.

Despite the current circumstances, Embiid was present at Sixers minicamp practice at PCOM on Friday. And he was still the same wide-smiled, energetic 21-year-old the organization has been around for the past year.

"He's happy," Sixers director of player development and assistant coach Billy Lange said. "He's smiling and he's talking."

Lange didn't give an indication on the direction Embiid, his representatives and the organization are leaning toward moving forward. It was his first opportunity to be around Embiid in two weeks, but he was impressed with his current mindset.

"That's just a credit to Joel's personality," Lange said, "that despite all the scrutiny that he might be under, he can come in here and be a great guy and just be a part of the Sixers."

Positivity is all you can ask for right now out of the highly-touted prospect itching to get his first NBA action and prove he's worthy of the No. 3 overall pick in the 2014 draft.

Even if the situation turns for the worse.
