The Government Delegate to the Limbe City Council, Motanga Andrew Monjimba has once more confirmed his determination to see that the lone Division I team in the South West, Njalla Quan Sports Academy, is not relegated to Division II.
Motanga rallied major names and stakeholders in the region last October 16 at the Conference hall of the Limbe City Council, Bota for a special fund raising to lift up the club from its present financial situation.
Speaking at the start of the meeting, the Government Delegate, said “The matter at hand is a straight forward and urgent one. Our lone team in the elite football division, the Njalla Quan Sports Academy FC, is in a precarious situation and we cannot sit and fold our arms and watch what a collective patrimony slide into the abyss of an inferior league.”
He added that it would be a collective failure if they do not save this team and maintain the dignity of the city as concerns sports and especially football.
Motanga said “Our team is in dire need of financial resources for it to go through these last days of the championship. Lack of sufficient finances has been the main reason why the team finds itself in the current situation.”
The City Council to a large extent and a few institutions and personalities of goodwill according to Motanga have been able to contribute to keep the team afloat to this point but clearly these contributions have not been enough. This meeting was therefore one for the population to look up for concrete actions and results.
"We have to act here and now. There is no time. Let us stand-out and be counted. Tomorrow it would be said of us that those were the institutions, the men and women who kept Limbe and the South West in the premier league, through their timely support to NQSA FC."
At the end of the fundraising, a whooping FCFA 12 Million was raised to support the team in the last days of the league.
