France calls for a Nigeria, Niger, Chad and Cameroon military coordination

Jean-Yves Le Drian, French minister of defense recalled that Boko Haram represents a serious threat to the integrity of Nigeria and neighbouring countries.

France supports the efforts made by these four countries to organize among themselves in order to be able to respond", he said during a press conference on the sidelines of the Dakar Forum on peace and security in Africa.

"For this reason, we hope the establishment of a liaison committee of military nature between the authorities of these four countries to help coordinate their action and their response capacity", said M. Le Drian. "We have put at their disposal several officers who will be likely to accompany them", he said.

Cameroon, Chad, Niger and Nigeria were expected to have sent 2,800 troops along their borders before late November to support the Nigerian military on the spot against Boko Haram. But this deployment was slow to materialize.
