The Minister of Tourism and Leisure, Bello Bouba Maigari and the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife, Ngole Philip Ngwese have signed a partnership agreement to promote eco-tourism in Cameroon.

The partnership agreement signed on 8th August 2014 in Yaounde is intended to valorise eco-tourism in Cameroon through the promotion of eco-touristic sites, protection of forest and wildlife including eco-touristic products.

The three year partnership to be renewed after evaluation is amongst recommendations of the National Council of Tourism that held in 2009.

Currently Cameroon has 30 classified protected areas. These areas include National parks, wildlife reserves, wildlife sanctuaries and zoological gardens.

Poaching, industrial activities, mineral extraction and pollution of all kinds constantly threaten Cameroon’s protected areas.

Mindful of the consequences of the threats to the image of Cameroon’s ecotouristic sector, the Minister of Tourism and Leisure, Bello Bouba Maigari and the Minister of Forestry and Wildlife, Ngole Philip Ngwese have now agreed to reverse the trend.
