Koumateke, twin babies to be buried April 30

The remains of Monique Koumateke and her two twin babies, who died under controversial circumstances at the Laquintinie Hospital in Douala, March 12, 2016, will be laid to rest on Saturday, April 30, 2016 in her village in Nkam Division Littoral Region.

The bodies have since been lying at the Douala Laquintinie Hospital mortuary. The information was made public in Douala, April 8 by Berth Sen, mother of the late Koumateke. According to her, there will be wake-keeping without corpse at the family compound on April 29 breaking April 30.

On March 14, the Minister of Communication, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, told the media in Douala that the Cameroon Government had, through the Governor of the Littoral Region, Samuel Dieudonné Ivaha Diboua, informed the family of the deceased that the Government would be willing to provide funds to assist in the funeral.

The money had apparently not been allocated, since the family is still to release the burial programme. Recently, Sen decried that there is a false rumour going round that she had already received money from Government.

She disclosed that she was already having problems with some relatives, who are accusing her of having received millions from the Government and Samuel Eto’o Fils (an illustrious son of Bassa). Observers have expressed fear that the supposed government money may rather ignite tension among the family members of deceased.
