Air Force integrated into fight against Boko Haram

The head of State alongside the chief of army has finally decided to engage the aviation in the relentless battle against insurgence from the Islamist sect, Boko Haram. After several soldiers were recently killed, the Army Chief has finally decided to engage the aviation.

The information was made public by Radio France International (RFI) two days ago. In the wake of the crisis meeting held by the president of the Republic, at the unity Palace after the attack Sunday, attributed to Boko Haram, in the locality of Kolofata (far North), Chief armies decided to reinforce the military and security in the far North.

The french media revealed that the operation 'Alpha' that takes the place of "operation emergence" will now have a new elements: the Air Force. "This time, the focus will be on the introduction of military aviation. Reconnaissance helicopters and fighter planes already stationed in the region should now intervene in the fighting in support of the ground troops' revealed RFI. Indeed, some have turned to question the surveillance of the territory, the coordination of the units on the ground, intelligence due to the fact that these attacks from the sect are always successfully carried out.

Cameroon lacks the necessary technology to monitor all movements on its territory. His intelligence is therefore disabled. However, the time taken for each of the attacks (several hours in general), reveal a lack of reactivity of the units on the ground who are sometimes forced to wait for hours for orders from Yaoundé. The information is transmitted on time, but the instructions do not arrive with the same velocity. The aviation would allow the army to respond more quickly from the base in Garoua for interventions in the far North.
