At least 180 fighters from the Nigerian Islamist sect Boko Haram have been killed by the Cameroonian army during an attack by this terrorist organisation Thursday night in Amchide, a town in the North - Cameroon border of Nigeria.

One of the town most affected in the far North region due to terrorist acts from Boko Haram on Cameroonian soil, Amchide, again underwent massive attack Thursday night with more than 400 combatants, according to a source.

"They wanted to seize a car and a pick-up belonging to the BIR (Rapid Intervention Battalion), but they simply succeeded to puncture the tyres." Our forces responded with the help of armoured cars. At least 180 attackers were killed, but no victim was registered on the Cameroonian side", the source indicated.

This attack, which has not yet been declared officially by the authorities of Yaoundé, comes two months after another Boko Haram had registered a record heavier than 200 dead after two days of clashes with the Cameroonian army on 15 and 16 October in this locality and another surrounding Limani, against 8 Cameroonian soldiers, according to the same sources.

Since then, the defense forces and Cameroonian security reinforced their positions by increasing their staffing (estimated at 6 000 men) and their logistics in order to curb this terrorist threat.
