New destinations, lucrative salaries for Cameroonian players abroad

After the transfer window slammed shut on September 1, 2015, Cameroonian soccer players abroad have signed lucrative contracts either keeping them in their respective clubs or moving to new destinations.

Alex Song Re-Joins West Ham United

Former Cameroon international, Alex Song, has returned to West Ham United on a season-long loan from Barcelona.

The 27-year-old former Arsenal midfielder, who announced his international retirement earlier this year, spent last season on loan at Upton Park, making 31 appearances in all competitions.

"It has just been confirmed that Alex Song has signed a season-long loan deal to join West Ham. Welcome back Alex," West Ham co-owner, David Gold twitted.

Song told the West Ham website: "I am very happy. When I left, I didn't know I would come back here. It was not easy, but at the end of the day, the most important thing is; I'm here now and I'm very happy. I feel at home, my family too; they're set up very well here. My kids are playing for West Ham academy."

Bastia Signs Axel Ngando

The Franco-Cameroonian striker has pledged his commitment to play for French Division I side, Bastia for a three-year deal.

After a brief spell in Belgium, the 22- year-old attacking midfielder finally pledged his future for the Corsican club.

Axel Ngando Elessa, a nephew of former Indomitable Lion striker, Patrick Mboma, expressed satisfaction after joining Bastia.

"Starting a new adventure is a very good step for me. I am very happy to sign for SC Bastia ".

Ngando was loaned out to Stade Rennais in Angers last season and helped the club to move up to League I this season.

Fabrice Olinga Moves To Belgium

Royal Mouscron Péruwelz FC has signed a two-year contract with Fabrice Olinga Essono, after a successful trial. The 19-year-old Olinga is among the seven players recruited by the club this year.

The youngster joined the Belgian team after completing a brief stint at Zulte-Waregem. Olinga also transited through Apollo Limassol in Cyprus and the Viitorul Constanta in Romania.

As a true migratory bird, Olinga was still looking for a real branch to perch on, after leaving Malaga FC in Spain in 2012.

FC Minsk Snaps Up Geneviev Ngo

A new page has opened in the career of 22-year-old Cameroon international, Genevieve Ngo Mbeleck, after she signed her first ever professional contract with FC Minsk of Belarus.

The Indomitable Lioness signed her first professional contract, two months after Cameroon’s brilliant performance at the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada.

The former player of Caiman girls of Douala joins her other teammates on the international scene.

Landry Nguemo Moves To Akhisar Belediyespor

After a brief stint at AS St-Etienne in France, Landry Nguemo has moved to Akhisar for a new sporting adventure.

The Turkish side signed a three-year deal with Nguemo, after he was released by Trabzonspor.

His mission, according to him, is to fine-tune ways of helping his new team to be among the best teams in Turkey.

Eyong Enoh Extends Deal With Standard Liege

Enoh Eyong’s contract, that was due to expire in June this year, has been renewed for two years.

The Belgian side extended the deal to 2017, following the Cameroonian’s brilliant performance since joining the club in 2014.

According to the Sport Director, Axel Lawarée, his experience and mentality has helped the team to move forward. Enoh is now tied to the club until June 2017.

Joining Standard Liege from Antalyaspor in Turkey, Enoh Eyong asserted himself in less than a year as one of the cornerstones of the club, despite injury worries.

Fabrice Mbvouvouma Signs For FC Montreal

Cameroonian defensive midfielder, Fabrice Mbvouvouma, has signed a new deal with FC Montreal.

The 18-year-old Cameroonian signed for FC Montreal after leaving USL FC.

The striker, who has also played for Cameroon U-20 selection and, before his trip to Europe for greener pastures, played for Rain Bow FC of Bamenda in Cameroon.

According to the head coach of Montreal, Philippe Eullaffroy, he is a good defensive midfielder and also thinks he will be integrated as fast as possible.

“He is a very fluid defensive midfielder in his playing, which is able to change pace by race because he is explosive and well-coordinated. He likes to play forward and has a good profile for a young age. We hope it will grow much in our environment, but we see that it is already very well integrated.”

Mandjeck Returns To France

Georges Constant Mandjeck has signed a two-year deal with French Division II side, FC Metz. The Cameroon midfielder who played for Turkish Division II side, Kayseri Erciyesspor, waited till the last day of the transfer window to sign a new deal with the French club.

The former Rennes Player was persuaded by Metz project leaders, who have decided to bet on a player with experience and a good knowledge of French championships.

The 183cm defensive midfielder had a difficult end of the season in which he featured only 12 times in the Turkish Super League.

George Mandjeck, a player who has evolved in Germany and Turkey, will once again decide his fate in France.
