Nkoulou out for two months after knee injury

It has been officially announced that central defender, Nicolas Nkoulou had a knee surgery on Monday, February 23, 2015 after experiencing severe pains on his left knee.

Nkoulou who is not expected to be back anytime soon has not played with Olympique de Marseille since he returned wounded from CAN 2015 in Equatorial Guinea.

Nkoulou is expected to be absent between six to eight weeks. Olympique de Marseille will be without its best defender to play major matches, especially against PSG and Lyon.

However in order to return to the competition, Nkoulou will have to follow a specific health program.

According to former physical trainer of AS Monaco on lephoceen.com, Lionel Lacono, “The first two weeks will be basic care. Then, the following weeks will be the start of electro-stimulation. Next we remobilize with biking, elliptical biking after some time, and indulge slowly in muscles rebuilding.”

“After four weeks, if all goes well, he will be able to start footing while still strengthening the muscles around the knee joint. He will then slowly resume football with work on the bearings including small ball exercises. It is during the last week that we will resume a near normal collective training”, he added.
