Granada terminate Dany Nounkeu loan contract with Galatasaray

Cameroon international Dany Nounkeu joined Granada on loan from Galatasaray last summer, but after participating in just one half of a Copa del Rey match, the Andaluz club have opted to prematurely terminate the deal.

Granada have announced on Thursday that they have reached an agreement with Turkish side Galatasaray, to prematurely terminate the loan contract of central defender, Dany Nounkeu. The experienced Cameroon international was signed last summer to add further competition in defence, but failed to make an impact under recently sacked manager, Joaquín Caparrós, who only provided the player with 45 minutes of action in a Copa del Rey match against Córdoba.

Following the arrival of Abel Resino as manager, the club also declared that the 27-year-old would be unlikely to gain further playing opportunities.

This move could provide a good opportunity for towering central defender Marcelo Djalo, who has impressed with the B team, trained regularly with the first-team débuted in the Copa del Rey against Sevilla. The 21-year-old seems the most likely option to compete for a place alongside Jeison Murillo, Jean-Sylvain Babin and club captain, Diego Mainz, for the two centre-back positions.

Whilst Granada could yet sign another central defender in the January transfer window, they’ve already moved to sign 19-year-old Diego González from Cádiz, who is already seen as a direct replacement for Marcelo in the B team.

Meanwhile, the club remains busy in the transfer market, having also concluded the signings of Argentine left-back Emanuel Insúa on a contract until 2019 from Boca Juniors, plus midfielder Rubén Pérez, who arrives on loan from Atlético Madrid for the remainder of the current season, having spent the first half of the campaign in Italy with Torino.
