Report: Sampdoria have Eto’o agreement

There are reports in Italy that Serie A side Sampdoria have come to an agreement to sign Samuel Eto'o.

Speculation surrounding the future of Cameroon international Samuel Eto'o continues to intensify with reports in Italy that Sampdoria have signed the Everton man.

Eto'o only arrived at Goodison Park in the summer, but the former Chelsea marksman hasn't had the impact expected and there has been talk of a fresh start elsewhere.

Yesterday it was being reported that Serie A high-fliers Sampdoria were attempting to find the finance to make an audacious bid and it is being suggested that they have succeeded.

Reports today state that Sampdoria have agreed a permanent signature with Everton and that the Italians will sell Gonzalo Bergessio to free up the necessary funds.

Cagliari boss Gianfranco Zola reportedly called Eto'o last night to try and hijack the move, but he was allegedly told that the striker had already made his mind up to join Sampdoria.

If these reports are true then Sampdoria will be frantically at work over the next few days to try and tie up the sale of Bergessio before a rival disrupts the Eto'o move.
