Bassong unsure what future holds

Norwich City's on loan defender, Sebastien Bassong has been talking to the press again about his future when his current loan deal with Watford ends in January.

Bassong was speaking to The Sun, for whom he occasionally writes a column, and had this to say, as well as on the subject of keeping norwich out of the play off places:

"It would be very weird (to keep Norwich out of the play-off places) - some people are surprised Norwich allowed me to go to Watford but I didn`t even think about it at the time," said Bassong.

"If I stay at Watford it`s going to be a bit of a competition between the club that owns me and the club who has me on loan. It will be interesting!'

These comments were published on Boxing Day, ahead of The Hornets' 0-1 defeat to Wolves in the tea time kick off - a result that means City are just one place behind them and the play-off places.

"The loan ends in January so we will take from there' he added.

"We`re doing well at Watford and I think they would be keen to extend my loan. But it`s not up to them.

"My future at Norwich is a bit complicated. I had a really good time there for two years and can`t forget that. I don`t really speak to Neil Adams and did not, even before the loan.

"The only thing he said was he was not going to stop me from going on out on loan.

"So Watford was a good opportunity for me. He said nothing and just accepted it. I don`t know what Norwich have in mind, but I`m sure I`ll find out."

Bassong has been a major player for Watford in their promotion push and would be a big miss if he wasn't allowed to continue in their back four. However, with Watford being such a good team, should we really help them out? What about keeping him at Carrow Road?

The problem is likely to be the relationship between Adams and Bassong, which sounds like it is non-existent, reading Seb's comments. So that would mean that we'd keep him and pay him but probably not play him - a tricky situation.

Assuming of course, that nobody wants to buy him - I can't see many Championship clubs being able to afford him and can't think many, other than the bottom three would be interested in the Premier League. A club like Leicester could do a lot worse...
