Lukaku hails influence of experienced Eto'o

Speaking at the EA Sports FIFA 15 event, Everton record-signing Romelu Lukaku has informed reporters that he’s benefitting from the awesome experience of strike-partner Samuel Eto’o – as reported by Mirror Football.

Both joined the Goodison outfit permanently from Chelsea this summer, although the Belgium international scored 15 Premier League goals on loan with the Toffees last season, the former by way of a club- record £28million fee and the latter via a free transfer.

The duo have often shared the lone striking role in Everton’s starting Xi this season or featured for small periods as a front-two, with Eto’o coming on as a substitute.

But Lukaku insists he’s still learning much from the Cameroon legend twelve years his senior, who boasts a career return of 307 goals and 79 assists in 624 appearances throughout spells with Mallorca, Anzhi, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Barcelona – winning seven major domestic honours and three Champions League titles with the latter two clubs.

“I’m picking up lots from him and he has a tremendous football knowledge,” said Lukaku. “He doesn’t give me a yard. When I go to do finishing, he follows me across and says ‘It’s you against me again’.

“He hates to lose and I hate to lose so when we are on the same team in the small-sided games, we never lose,” continued the 21 year-old.

Lukaku will be hoping he and Eto’o can transition their winning ways to the pitch, with Everton taking on Southampton in this afternoon’s Premier League action.
