If Liverpool fans were surprised when the club signed Rickie Lambert, they must have been shocked to hear rumours that Brendan Rodgers is considering a deal for Samuel Eto'o.
The Cameroon striker was one of the best attackers in the world in his prime and has scored a total of 359 goals for clubs and country, but at 33 he is approaching veteran status (just ask Jose Mourinho).
Eto'o is still a class act capable of scoring vital goals, so would he represent a sound bit of recruitment by Liverpool?
Or does his contribution to Chelsea last season mean Rodgers should steer clear?
Have a look at what Liverpool fans are saying and leave your thoughts below…

Eto'o? Nooooooo'o! #LFC
— Chris Hewitt (@ChrisHewittLFC) August 12, 2014 I'd prefer Torres to Eto'o #LFC
— Dave Canty (@Tremdave) August 12, 2014 I've seen a lot of people who would prefer Torres to return over Eto'o... Have they missed the last 3 years?!? #LFC #Bonkers
— The Liverpool Camp (@LiverpoolCamp) August 12, 2014 I would prefer my grandmother as striker rather than 94y/o Eto !!! #LFC
— Kopite100 (@Kopite2014) August 12, 2014 FACT: Rather have Eto'o for a Year for Free than 19 Mil For Bony and then be stuck with as Origi Returns next Year #LFC
— Aemo E'Face (@AemoEface) August 12, 2014 I'd probably take Eto'o on a free over a £16-19m Bony as they're both probably just stop gaps. #LFC
— Kyledriver (@ThatsSoKyle) August 12, 2014 I guess the money from Kolo Toure's sale will go towards paying Eto'o's bench gratuities. #LFC
— D. Davidson-Amadi (@TheSplinterCell) August 12, 2014 We were supposed to be in the market for Reus, falcao or Cavani and now we're looking at Eto'o. FML! #LFC #facepalm
— Avinash (@Auto_Hub) August 12, 2014 So this Samuel Eto'o thing is actually real. That's a panic if I've ever seen 1 #LFC
