Alex Song leaves squad for family reasons

Cameroonian midfielder Alex Song left the Barcelona squad in Birmingham (England) for family reasons, according to the ‘Azulgranas’.

Shortly after Barça landed in England, Song needed to fly out, meaning he will miss out on training with the rest of his side.

It is worth pointing out that the Cameroon international is one of the team’s players currently looking for a spot in another team, because his performances have not convinced the top brass in Barcelona that he should be considered as an important player.

Song re-joined training in Barcelona last Thursday, along with the side’s Spain internationals (Piqué, Alba, Xavi, Iniesta, Busquets and Pedro) and Ivan Rakitic.

With Song missing, Luis Enrique will be working with 25 players, 17 from the first team and 8 from the youth setup.

Aside from the Cameroonian, the training sessions at St. George’s Park will also be missing Adriano Correia (cardiac issues), as well as Argentine internationals Messi and Mascherano, and Brazilians Neymar and Dani Alves.
