Vincent Aboubakar to decide future; Chelsea and Leicester reportedly interested

Chelsea and Leicester City are among the clubs interested in signing Cameroon forward Vincent Aboubakar according to French newspaper L’Equipe.

The 22-year-old currently plays for FC Lorient and, with a contract that ends in 2016, the French newspaper claims he is attracting quite a lot of interest from England.

Aboubakar will reportedly decide his future after this summer’s World Cup, where he will be hoping to make an impact for his national team in a group that includes Brazil, Croatia and Mexico.

That said, he will have to go some to score against the hosts or some people’s dark horses for the tournament Croatia. Especially since he has only bagged two international goals to date.

That said, Aboubakar did find the net 16 times in Ligue 1 last season, while also providing eight assists.

L’Equipe claims the player is the subject of several bids from England, with newly-promoted Leicester cited as one interested club and Chelsea said to have shown an interest at the end of last season.

With Diego Costa tipped to arrive at Stamford Bridge in due course, Aboubakar may find game-time hard to come by at the Blues, suggesting a switch to the Foxes would make more sense at this stage of his career.

But a goal or two this summer and the apparently interested parties could soon multiply.
