YOSA holds on to second position after Day 21

YOSA of Bamenda has beaten Les Astre of Douala 3-1 to maintain their second position on the league table of the Professional League One. The game was one of the five Day 21 matches programmed in play grounds across Cameroon.

Uncommon as the décor was, so too was the quality and caliber of spectators. It was the first time the President of the Cameroon Professional Football League LFPC was attending a football match in his function as league president.

General Piere Semengue who was accompanied by several league officials and collaborators also brought to the Ngenefor play playground for the first time the Senior Divisional Officer for Mezam Songa Pierre.

With about 20 notables and protocol officers, the Paramount ruler of the Nkwen People HM SF Azehfor III attended for the second time attended a League One match in his Fondom.

He will later take the kick-off of the game with Gen Semengue and others looking on.

Chairman of Cameroon’s leading opposition political party SDF though arriving late was present for the first time as well. Together with the Mayors or Bamenda III, Njinikom and Bafut, Ni John Fru Ndi staged a spectacular arrival just a few minutes into the game.

Despite arriving Bamenda early Sunday morning, a determined Les Astre of Douala forced home side YOSA to a nil-nil tie at the end of the first half. With a few defensive errors from YOSA, many went for the first half break thinking les Astre was a better side.

About 5minutes into the second half, Awono Junior deputy captain for YOSA transformed a penalty resulting from a hard tackle on lead striker Gilbert Kilah by Les Astre defender into a goal.

However Les Astre will reply just a few minutes later to keep the score line at the same level (1-1). Their reply was received by a dead silence in the stadium.

20minutes later the substitution of Ngome Ntombe with Tamo Tinwo added a new steam into the attack line of YOSA. Just a few minutes into the field, Tamo gave YOSA a lead finishing a personal action from Gilbert Kilah putting the score at 2-1.

Ngong Lionel will later unleashed a left foot shot that could not be stopped by goal keeper Kerrido Hashou of Les Astre who rather pushed the ball forward giving YOSA team captain Kongnyuy Jude an opportunity to fire in the third goal for the Bamenda team.

At full-time the YOSA stadium was transformed to an open air dance club as the thousands of fans went into one big celebration.

Les Astre manager A.C Mbongo accepted defeat noting that his team is currently facing some challenges. According to him YOSA merited their win.

While praising his team and fans for a job well-done, YOSA manager Ndoumbe Bosso noted that his team made maximum use of the opportunities they had. He however congratulated les Astre for putting up a strong contest against his team. For his next outing against Aigle of Dschang, Ndoumbe said he “will be going to win and not to be beaten.
