The courageous captain of the Indomitable Lionesses raised the spirit of her teammates a few hours before kick-off of the third game of Cameroon against Switzerland.

Christine Manie was positive about qualifying for the 8th finals. She sounded reassuring and exhibited confidence at the pre-match press conference.

Q: What are your impressions in a few hours of your third game against Switzerland?

A: The fact that we are here means we are ready. We have worked hard up until now. Now that we are here, we are not going back. And it will be a beautiful game. I would say that we are ready, the team is ready.

Q: How have you lived your first experience in the World Cup here in Canada?

A: We came to learn and also gain experience. However, the Canadian people have really welcomed us and it’s good because it added to our confidence. Nonetheless, we are still in the learning process. We started the tournament slowly like the way a bird builds its nest. It is our pleasure to be in Canada and it still drives us to dream to play in another World Cup. Nothing will stop us. We are here to play in this World Cup and we will figure the rest out.

Q: Cameroon’s participation in the 8th finals would really have an impact on the country. How important is it for women's football team in Cameroon to participate in the finals?

A: Sure, it would have an impact in Cameroon especially in women's football. It is the first time the women’s football team got to the 8th finals. And it's a dream come true. When we play, we think of our sisters who are in Cameroon and we believe in our football. We want to rise high which is why we work hard. It will have a positive impact that I'm sure of. For now, we dream of going beyond the 8th finals. Anything is possible with football and that’s why we are here.
