Volker Finke 23 final man squad known

The Head Coach of the Indomitable Lions, Volker Finke has handed over his 23 man squad 30th edition of AFCON to the Confederation of African Football, CAF.

Volker Finke made public the list this Wednesday 8th January 2015, after the friendly between the LIONS and the DRC.

Though the coach`s choice of players came from a number of workouts, the friendly match of January 7,influenced the final decision.

The group has been together since 6th September 2014 and the two absentees included Aurélien Chedjou and Jacques Zoua Daogari.

Seven of the 23 on Finke`s list participated in the 2010 AFCON in south Africa ,they include Stéphane Mbia, Nicolas Nkoulou, Henri Bedimo, Aurélien Chedjou, Georges Mandjeck, Eyong Enoh and Aurélien Chedjou.

The group is relatively young, with an average age of 25.

Bookmakers are positive of the strength of the team though the left knee injury of Nicolas Nkoulou and the absence of Stephane Mbia in mid field raises concern.

But Volker Finke assures he plans to build a strong group with players capable of multiplying roles due to the lack of experience of some of the newcomers.

The squad leaves for Libreville, Gabon on 11th January for a friendly with the South African national team.

They are expected to face a yet to be identified team on 14 January before leaving for Malabo, Equatorial Guinea on 16th January.
