Sampdoria could sign Eto’o by finding a sponsor

Serie A side Sampdoria are reportedly trying to find an unconventional way to raise the money to lure Samuel Eto'o away from Everton.

Italian reports emerged yesterday that Sampdoria may try and poach Samuel Eto'o from Everton and further details of their supposed plan have come out.

Sampdoria have overachieved so far this season and there are signs that the Blucerchiati are becoming more ambitious in their aspirations.

The club have already been linked with Liverpool marksman Mario Balotelli and now they are said to be looking to grab Eto'o.

Eto'o hasn't featured as much at Everton as may have been expected since signing in the summer and there's a possibility he could be tempted.

However, the obvious problem for Sampdoria lies in finance. They would struggle to pay Eto'o wages and could hardly be expected to find the cash needed to steal him away from Everton.

The latest reports suggest that Samp are currently looking for a sponsor who may fund the acquisition of Eto'o.

This happened when Fiorentina signed German striker Mario Gomez, who had appeared to be out of their price range, and with the Genoa-based club going from strength to strength it wouldn't be out of the question.

While Eto'o hasn't yet shown what he is capable of at Everton, fans will surely be hoping he doesn't end his time at Goodison Park so soon.
