Rayon Sports pull a surprise win over Panthere du Nde

Rwanda’s Rayon Sports completed a surprise victory over Cameroon’s Panthere du Nde to confirm progression into the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday.

Rayon, who stunned the West African side with a 1-0 away victory in Douala in the first leg, won the return match by the same score line to complete a 2-0 aggregate victory.

The only goal of the game in Kigali was scored by striker Isaac Mugana in the 14th minute.

Rayon will now face an even tougher test in the first round of Africa’s second tier tournament, as they will come up against Egyptian giants Zamalek.

The first leg will be played on the weekend of 13-15 March, with the return set for 3-5 April.
