QPR launches a shocking move to sign Song

QPR have launched an ambitious bid to sign Barcelona misfit Alex Song. Harry Redknapp wants the former Arsenal midfielder on loan.

But Song is holding out for a better offer, with both AC Milan and Inter Milan also showing an interest in him.

Redknapp sees Song as the ideal candidate to toughen up the Rangers midfield as his newly-promoted side bid to establish themselves back in the top flight. But Barcelona would prefer to sell the 26-year-old, and sources close to the player claim he is willing to bid this time.

Song is also believed to be one of several fall-back options being discussed by Manchester United should they fail to sign Arturo Vidal. Everton and Swansea were also weighing offers for the Cameroonian midfielder but did not follow through on their interest.

Song was a big hit in the Premier League with Arsenal in a four-year spell with the north Londoners, even though he failed to win any silverware with the club. But he has endured a tough time at Barcelona since he quit the Gunners in a £15m transfer in 2012 and has found his playing time limited.

New Barca boss Luis Enrique has told Song he is surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp and his agent will meet the Spanish giants this week to discuss his future.

QPR have already signed Rio Ferdinand, Steven Caulker, Jordon Mutch and Mauricio Isla this summer, but Redknapp is keen to make more signings.
