PM orders Tombi to disburse subvention to Pro’ League

Prime Minister Philemon Yang has ordered TombI A Roko Sidiki,FECAFOOT president to disburse into the account of the professional football league, the sum of FCFA 410 million, yearly subvention from the federation to the league.

The Fecafoot boss did not convince the PM that four accounts of the federation have been blocked; hence the institution has not been able to get the money to the league. According to the daily French Newspaper Émergence edition of 22 April 2016, Philemon Yang wondered how the federation was functioning with four accounts blocked, yet it cannot respect its engagements with league.

Another source which attended a meeting organized recently with prime minister, Tombi Aroko, Gen. Pirre Semengue and Sports Minister, Ismaël Pierre Bidoung Mkpatt, said the government reiterated its unflinching support to the General, who was described by the sports boss as a great man who has done wonderful things for the nation and who should not be left at the cross road. The league is expected to also receive the sum of FCFA 290 million for the government as part of subvention.

Tension was recently perceived between the Fecafoot boss and the League, following a suspension of the Leagues present executives and putting in place of a provisional bureau. However Gen. Pierre Semengue won an appeal he deposited at the Chamber of Arbitration and Reconciliation at the National Olympic and Sports Committee, with the court asking the Tombi Bureau to be dissolved.

Cameroonian professional football league has been hit by no or meagre salary to players.The league has also suffered from the rehabilatation works ongoing at the Yaounde stadium as most of the matches are programmed out of the city.The Pro League has also come under the spy glass for not producing the expected spectacle.Gen. Pierre Semengue who has been president for five successive seasons and could stand unopposed in the next elections previewed in the months ahead.
