Nomads can't use Assu now

Mighty Be Forward Wanderers' Lionel Assu is yet to taste domestic Telekom Networks Malawi (TNM) Super League due to a delay in his transfer clearance.

After a long conflict which was based on terms and demands, the Lali Lubani boys managed to sign the Cameroonian forward last Friday but cannot use him until he is cleared through the Transfer Matching System (TMS), after which he must be issued an international transfer certificate.

Assu who before joining the Blantyre giants was plying his trade with Thailand side Kaben FC, will have to wait for some weeks before kicking the ball in the Super League because the clearance may take longer than expected.

Football Association of Malawi's (FAM) facility and transfer matching manager, Casper Jangale said that they are not able to trace the player despite applying maximum efforts.

"The player says he went to Thailand but in the system it's not showing. I have since written to Thailand and Cameroon Football Association (CFA) to see how best we can get him registered," said Jangale in an interview with a local newspaper.

Wanderers cannot hold their patience as the player could have played a paramount role in their next Super League assignment have lost Rafique Mussa and Mike Kaziputa to suspension after they were each handed a red card.

Assu's representative, Prince Jere said that the player could have been eligible to play by now, but disagreements over terms has made matters worse.

Jere told the media when Assu joined Nomads camp that he (Assu) scored 19 goals in 22 games for Kaben club.
