Ngoketundja FC survives, Tiko United relegated

The last day of play of the League 2 saw Ngoketundja FC of Ndop narrowly escaping relegation while Tiko United FC were unlucky as they pulled a 1-1 draw against Aigle Royal of Menoua.

It was a sad day for the supporters of Tiko United that saw their darling team relegated to the inferior Southwest Division II League fondly known as “Devil League”.

Before the last day of play, Tiko United was expected to win his game and pray that AS Etoa-Meki and Achille FC of Sa’a all drop points for them to stay at League 2.

However, this was not the case as As Etoa-Meki beat University of Ngaoundere FC, 4-0 while Achille FC pulled a 0-0 with Panthere Security.

Aigle Royal’s draw against Tiko United frustrated their dream of playing Ligue 1 football next year as they needed a victory that will see them promoted.

Meanwhile, Lion Blessé spanked National Polytechnic 2-0 enabling them to pick the last ticket to join Botafogo FC and Dragon FC to sail into Ligue 1.

On her part, Ngoketundja of Ndop survived relegation after they registered pulled an away draw against Tiko United and registered a win home to see them maintain for next year.

As a result of the FECAFOOT decision which stated that four teams were to be relegated in both League 1&2, in order to bring the number of teams in League 1 from 19 to 18, Achille Fc of Sa’a, Kohi Club of Maroua , Sahel of Maroua all joined Tiko United in the inferior league next season.

The 2009 Cameroon Premier Division Champs, Tiko United will be hoping to bounce back.
